🏛️ Solemn Ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery
On Memorial Day 2025, U.S. President Donald Trump paid tribute to fallen military members during a ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery. He referred to them as “the bravest and best of America,” saying, “We honor their glorious legacy with deep respect.”
🎖️ Heartfelt Stories of Sacrifice
Trump stated, “We are working to build a stronger, freer, and prouder nation—one that forever remembers the sacrifice of our heroes.”
He highlighted the stories of two fallen service members:
Shannon Kent, who was killed in a suicide bombing in Syria
Elroy Harworth, who died during the Vietnam War while his wife was seven months pregnant. His son now serves in the military and has done so for 20 years.
These stories, Trump said, represent the courage and sacrifice of the U.S. armed forces. Vice President JD Vance added, “These gravestones remind us—we must be cautious before sending our people to war.”
🇺🇸 Looking Ahead to America’s 250th Anniversary
Trump hinted at a “great, great celebration” for America’s upcoming 250th independence anniversary in 2026. Jokingly, he said, “Sometimes I think it’s a good thing I missed that second term—otherwise I wouldn’t be president for this celebration.”
He added humorously, “We’ve got the World Cup, we’ve got the Olympics—can you imagine? I missed those four years, and now I’ve got everything. It’s incredible how life works.”
⚠️ A Different Tone Earlier in the Day
Trump began the day with a more aggressive tone, launching strong criticisms on his social media platform against former President Joe Biden, calling him a “disgrace” who tried to destroy the country with “radical leftist policies.”
He also condemned federal judges who blocked parts of his mass deportation plans, calling them “monsters who want our country to go to hell.”
❗ “Happy Memorial Day” Sparks Criticism
Earlier, Trump had posted “HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY!” on his social media—which drew backlash. In the U.S., Memorial Day is a solemn day of remembrance for fallen soldiers, and using the word “happy” is often seen as inappropriate.
