New Delhi/Islamabad – May 6, 2025
Unconfirmed reports suggest that India has carried out airstrikes targeting areas in Pakistan and Pakistan-administered Kashmir early Tuesday morning, amid rising tensions along the Line of Control (LoC). Official statements from both governments are beginning to emerge, though details remain limited and conflicting.
According to Indian media outlets citing unnamed defense officials, the strikes targeted alleged militant infrastructure in response to recent attacks in Indian-administered Kashmir. The Indian Ministry of Defence has not yet issued a comprehensive statement, but sources indicate that the strikes were described as "surgical" and "pre-emptive in nature."
In Islamabad, the Pakistani military confirmed that Indian aircraft "violated airspace" and that explosions were reported near several locations in Pakistan-administered Kashmir. In a brief statement, Pakistan condemned what it called an "unprovoked act of aggression" and warned of consequences. No casualties or damage assessments have been independently verified at this time.
Residents in the affected regions have reported hearing aircraft overhead and loud blasts in the early hours of the morning. However, access to many border areas remains restricted, making it difficult to confirm the scale or impact of the operation.
Diplomatic sources say Pakistan has convened high-level security meetings, while India is reportedly increasing military readiness along the border. International reactions are beginning to come in, with calls for restraint and de-escalation from several world capitals.
The situation is developing rapidly. More information is expected as official confirmations and clearer assessments become available.
