PayPal May Join SpaceX in Groundbreaking Satellite Venture in Bangladesh

PayPal, the global leader in digital payments, may soon play a key role in supporting SpaceX’s upcoming satellite operations in Bangladesh, according to a press release from the Chief Adviser’s Press Wing.

The announcement follows a high-level meeting between Lauren Dreyer, SpaceX’s Vice President of Global Engagement, and Bangladesh’s Chief Adviser, Professor Muhammad Yunus, on the sidelines of the Earthna Summit in Doha, Qatar. The two discussed the final stages of the long-anticipated SpaceX-Bangladesh partnership.

Dreyer, a close collaborator of Elon Musk for nearly 20 years, voiced her excitement about the venture.

“We’re very close to the finish line. I’ve asked my team to be fully ready for a technical launch by May,” she said.

Professor Yunus shared the nation’s growing excitement. “This is big news in Bangladesh. People are counting down the days,” he told Dreyer. “And when the time comes, it has to be a big celebration.”

The collaboration will begin with a technical rollout, followed by full deployment once final adjustments are made.

Crucially, the statement also noted the potential integration of PayPal into Bangladesh’s digital payments infrastructure to support the satellite operations.

For years, the absence of PayPal in Bangladesh has been a major hurdle for freelancers, entrepreneurs, and e-commerce businesses. Without direct access to the platform, they’ve faced delays, high fees, and limited connectivity to the global marketplace—challenges that have stifled digital growth and international engagement.

If confirmed, PayPal’s entry into the country could mark a transformative leap forward, unlocking new opportunities and removing long-standing barriers to global commerce.
