Sloppy Start for Golden State
The Warriors, at full strength, struggled to find their rhythm, plagued by turnovers and defensive lapses. They committed six turnovers in the opening period, two of which directly led to Nuggets’ three-pointers. This lack of execution forced Golden State's head coach to call a late timeout, visibly frustrated with his team’s lack of focus.
Denver took advantage of every mistake, using their depth and defensive intensity to disrupt the Warriors’ offense. Golden State’s usual fast-paced ball movement was stifled, leading to rushed shots and poor shot selection.
Nuggets Take Control
Even without their stars, the Nuggets showed resilience. Their sharp outside shooting and disciplined defense kept the Warriors on the back foot. They moved the ball efficiently, creating open shots and taking advantage of Golden State’s defensive breakdowns.
Golden State’s struggles in the first quarter highlighted a recurring issue this season—costly turnovers and slow starts against teams they should dominate. The question remained: Would they adjust in the following quarters, or would Denver continue to outplay them?
With the first quarter in the books, the Warriors needed a spark to avoid an unexpected upset on their home court.
